As part of the NEFI project TCP_to_Industry, the trial operation of a patented process for the processing of secondary raw materials has commenced.

The test facility was ceremonially inaugurated on November 21, 2023. Project partner Seccon has installed the first "Small-scale demonstrator" at the Pettenbach Technology Center. This allows for the examination of various input materials on an industrial scale. The test facility is capable of extracting aluminum and bio-fertilizer from used coffee capsules, among other materials.

The project's objective is to subsequently implement this technology in industrial plants, utilizing their waste heat in the process.

The project is coordinated by Montanuniversität Leoben, which has also developed the simulation model and energy model for the implementation. The Upper Austrian Energy Saving Association supports dissemination efforts.
