Upper Austrian State Prize for Innovation

Innovation has a long tradition in Upper Austria. Last year, the State Prize for Innovation demonstrated for the 30th time how Upper Austria's innovative strength is fueling progress in our state. We are characterized by courageous companies that rely on future technologies, break new ground in products and services and pursue innovative strategies. Their innovations are the driving force behind economic growth and employment. However, we also need role models that motivate others to follow suit – they need to be made visible.
With the Upper Austrian State Prize for Innovation 2024, we are therefore once again calling on companies and research institutions to bring their special commitment to innovation to the fore. The competition provides important impetus to break new ground and actively help shape the future. Up to three companies will be selected from all submissions that qualify for the state prize to take part in the State Prize for Innovation, as well as one company each for the Austria-wide VERENA and ECONOVIUS special prizes.
The Innovation Prize is awarded in three categories:
- Small and medium-sized enterprises
- Large companies
- Research institutions
The winners in each category receive a cash prize* (EUR 4.000 per category) donated by the Upper Austrian Department of Economic Affairs and Research. There are also two recognition prizes in each category.
Furthermore, two Upper Austrian jury prizes (for radical innovations and/or business model innovations) can be awarded.
The submission deadline for the State Prize for Innovation 2024 is April 19th, 2024.
