Achieving climate neutrality by 2040 requires comprehensive renewable electrification of the industrial, space heating and transport sectors. According to a study by Österreichs Energie, this will lead to a doubling of electricity demand and a tripling of installed capacity. In view of these figures, a massive expansion of the grid infrastructure is urgently needed to ensure the absorption and distribution of this renewable energy. In addition, a well-developed electricity grid makes it possible to make the best possible use of international electricity trade, for example by importing low-cost wind power from other regions.

The event addresses the challenges of power grids from the perspective of the energy transition. The speakers will take an in-depth look at both transmission grids and distribution grids.

After the presentations, participants will have the opportunity to discuss current issues with the speakers in a panel discussion.
