Industry and the energy sector are key drivers of the green transformation and are closely interlinked. Innovative approaches and cross-sector solutions are essential for the transformation towards a sustainable energy system in order to optimise this link and create a climate-neutral industry.
What challenges does the transformation of the energy system pose for industry? What approaches and potentials have already been researched and realised? How can the transformation succeed and what opportunities does it bring for the industrial and energy sector? In this context, we are pleased to invite you to the 8th Energy Economics Colloquium of the Austrian Association of Energy Economics (AAEE) and Energie Steiermark entitled "Green Energy for the Green Industry" at the Montanuniversität Leoben.
The energy industry discourse will start off with an impulse statement by Martin Graf on the 'Green Energy Masterplan 2040'. This was drawn up in a bottom-up process in collaboration with a total of 22 energy-intensive industrial companies based in Styria, IV-Steiermark and Energie Steiermark and focuses clearly on the topic of 'decarbonisation of the industrial energy supply'. As a result, the masterplan identifies a total of 45 specific implementation steps for the green transformation of Styrian industry in five fields of action, including 15 targeted packages of measures. The second impulse statement 'NEFI+ and ÖNIP' by Thomas Kienberger illustrates the benefits of cooperation between industry and research and presents the next step of the NEFI+ innovation network. In addition, the first Austrian grid infrastructure plan (ÖNIP) is presented, which serves as a strategic planning basis for the efficient expansion and conversion of a climate-neutral and secure energy infrastructure.
